KAMPALA U G A N D A
Dear Friends,
Greetings from a warm Africa!
When I arrived at Auckland Airport, Denis and Tina dropped me off, and it was quite hectic there. I didn’t pay much attention to the weight of my suitcases since I knew there was a limit of 23 kg each. However, when I checked them in, one suitcase was over by about 5 kg, so I ended up having to pay extra fees. In hindsight, I wish I had paid $250 for an additional suitcase before leaving, as it would have been the cheapest option.
I usually take one suitcase for myself and one for the children. This time, I packed a few things which filled the suitcase. Most of these small items were purchased, I only received one donation, which was a sack of knitted toys from Whanganui, so a big thank you to them! Given this experience I will buy the items there. Feb 16th Upon arriving in Kampala, I was greeted by John, who is my driver. The flights to Dubai and Entebbe were both pleasant. Wow! the heat it was a shock; it soon gets to be normal. Once in the car I couldn’t wait to give John a small soft kiwi bird, toy for his son. It wasn’t until the 20th Feb that I came right from jet lag . Its only ten days since I arrived and it seems I’ve done so much.
An abandoned orphanage I had heard about it from a friend, I hired a driver and went to look at it. was telling myself I’m only looking at it, don’t get too excited Sandra. There is no way I can go ahead with it as I did not have closure with the old lawyer. I was told very quietly on the side by a pastor, I’m only on a visitors permit because otherwise it could jeopardise work in the future.

The three photos of the place are on this page. It is set on the top of a hill with views all around 360 degrees two and a half acres of land lovely openness, wonderful a pergola for a prayer room was there too. Making relationships with the people there was what I did on this first visit. Charles is the caretaker of the place; he was an honest guy and a Christian. We left there with a good sense of accomplishing what God had prepared for us to do.
Arriving on the 16th Feb and already so much has happened because of where I was living.
I am writing from my heart to your heart. I’ve never been so frank in my newsletters before. My adult children said clearly to me “do let others do the work and you sit back a bit okay”? Sorry it’s not happened like that. I don’t have anyone to help me, yet.
Some choose a path that is a comfortable path, looks good, nice clothes brands, and feels good and comfortable. With hair washes, facials, comfort in a home and just a good life.
Others ….. No real comfort other than a bed shower and toilet food. This is a hard road; it’s not easy, nothing is. It’s hard to trust anyone here how sad is that? It’s crushing my spirit.
I will lean not on my own understanding; I tell myself “Oh dear Lord, I’m not sure if I have enough strength to carry on Lord”. For many hours crying out to the Lord.
Everything I go to do, is a fight or a problem I’m tired Lord not in body but in my spirit.
Last year, I was referred by a NZ pastor to a Ugandan pastor, and that did not turn out well. Because of the Lord’s light wherever I go, he exposes the dark things and brings them into the light.
John 1 V 8 he himself was not the light he came only as a witness to the light.
Then I was referred to a lawyer, which did not turn out great either. Again, things got exposed and brought out into the light. Another six people were involved with this disaster.
1 John v 5 the light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it.
God has been unearthing things that look like a train wreck, afterwards when I look back.
Every turn is another battle to be fought. From what I can see it appears that when I testify of the light by being in a dark place. John IV4 In him was life and that life was the light of all mankind.
Everywhere I go it turns out the same after when I get home, I say to the Lord: ‘Did you see that, Lord? did you see the disaster that came out of that. Lord you are exposing all darkness in that place lord, its chaotic yet I did nothing Lord, you revealed it to many. Thank you, Lord,
John IV 7 came as a witness to testify concerning that light. So, through him all might believe.
John IV9 the true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world.
I know it’s him I lean on; He said it wouldn’t be easy! He said he will be with me! He said have perseverance; I could not do this without him.
Here are all the things that happened in one day I pray you will be able to understand as I cry out to the lord. Now it’s the old lawyer that is trying me, by hindering me in my working for the lord by not making my path easy. He drawing things out so it is taking up your time Lord.
Well, the next thing was the safe car driver who took me to church on Sunday. It was arranged that he gave me his phone number to ring him after church and he left. After church I rang the driver to my surprise, he waited for me for an hour and a half while I was in Chinese church service he wanted me to pay for his time waiting. Going home he wanted more money suggesting watermelon and shopping. I said no “to the country club please.” ‘so that no one knows where I live’.
And walking up the road, a group of forty to fifty boys, between about 10 to 15years old, walked towards me. Who were collecting bottles as some were homeless parted ways as I walked up the hill as they walked around me closing in behind me, I could feel my heart racing so hard my heart was thumping in my chest. By the time they had walked past me, the last two stragglers were close to me. One had a switch like a willow and whipped me across the back and said give me your money. As I got through them this was the last straw, I cried.

I was reminded of this scripture:
2 Kings 2v23 24 Elisha left Jericho and went up to Bethel. As he was walking along the road, a group of boys from the town began mocking and making fun of him. “Go away, Baldy! ‘They chanted. “Go away, Baldy!” 24 Elisha turned around and looked at them, and he cursed them in the name of the Lord. Then two bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of them.
So, Lord, you protect me too in the name of Jesus.
While I walked crying and stumbling up the road about a hundred metres, I saw two feet sticking outside of the round drain that went across the driveway into a property, I stopped and bent down into the pipe drain and said “What are you doing in there? come out, come out, come on come out,” and he did. I asked what were you doing there? sleeping he said, I have been like this for three months. He was about 14 years old. I gave him a bottle of water and a container of leftover meat from my after-church lunch meal. There must be someone who wants to know where you are?
I could ring them and tell them you are, okay? He said NO. I said there must be someone who loves you? He said NO I said, I know someone who loves you very much. He looked at me its Jesus. I used to go to church. Why don’t you go back to that place again? They will support you. Would you like me to pray for you? I prayed and commended him to the Lord Jesus Christ; he thanked me, when I left. He got up and went down the road and joined the larger group of boys I had just met on my way up the hill.
So again, the lord refreshed the boy by putting His light back in the boy to share with the group, I wonder what God will do with all that? Some minutes later I arrived home to freshen myself. The Old lawyer sent an email letter that had a virus in it. I told him to please send a clean one in word with your signature too please. He is testing my patience. It was an exhausting day. Being led by him in the spirit is the only way to go. Love the song he walks with me and talks with me along the weary way.
So, my summary of this is, while talking to the Lord, about everything I did in these ten days. Lord everywhere I walked it was into the darkness, hard as it was, I said to the lord you will have to deal with that one lord it is too big for me. For me to experience this judgement of Gods wrath in real time, it is the word of God that’s the truth and nothing can stand against his word. I am just a servant like you doing the will of God.
A gift from God
The B&B where I was staying did not believe in Christ, which made things awkward for me. I felt restricted and couldn’t take my Bible outside to read it or talk about God in any way because the lady of the house said she didn’t like Christians. Despite this, I continued to pray, believing that the Lord had placed me there for a reason.
After the spiritual battles the next morning, I walked down to the kitchen and saw a new lady there. I asked her where she was from, and she replied that she was from Egypt. I felt a sense of relief and happiness the next morning when I saw her again. She leaned over and whispered to me, “I’m a Christian.” I told her that I was too, and we hugged each other warmly. She mentioned that she was waiting for an American pastor to arrive at the airport and expressed her desire to go pick him up. I gladly agreed to accompany her, as I had been feeling alone for ten days and was excited that the Lord had sent reinforcements. We awaited the arrival of Aman at the airport; he is proficient in both Arabic and English. Upon his arrival, the driver transported us to a dining place where we chose to share dinner together.
Aman expressed that our meeting was of God and stated that he was going to Australia, The lord clearly said go to Uganda and once we met each other we are all in agreement that it was God bringing us all together. What a gift from God after all I had been through the Calvary had arrived with all the angels with them.
Aman is a pastor and has dedicated his efforts to assisting Iraqi individuals in establishing their lives in New Zealand. He leads a team and is supported by a church in Australia, having made significant contributions to the welfare of refugees in Sudan and various other regions.
Each morning, we convened to engage in scriptural bible readings and to reflect on the impactful works of God, which provided me with considerable encouragement. Additionally, a woman from Egypt, named Dalia, had also secured a reservation at the same bed and breakfast as I.

The next day, we headed up to the refugee camp on this side of the border with Sudan to pay a visit. The five-hour car ride was pretty warm and a bit cramped with all six of us packed in, but we made it another adventure! Usually, there's a police checkpoint on the way to the camp, but answer to prayers that day no one was there—praise the Lord! We stayed at a cozy bed and breakfast for three nights. The first night went really well, but on the second night, we faced a power outage. By the third night, we were out of both power and water, which made sleeping a challenge. With no air conditioning, fans, or mosquito nets, the little critters had a feast, but thankfully, I had taken my malaria tablets!
When we arrived at the camp on the first day, everyone was sitting in a tent-like hut. The walls were covered with large plastic bags, and no windows. On the dry dirt floor were two beds along with a mat on the floor. People took off their shoes to stand on the mat, then sat on the beds or on the mat. A total of 35 people listened to pastor Aman preach I don't know what dog it was in there all were sweeting.
We received a warm welcome and, after the preaching, distributed bags containing rice, flour, oil, legumes, and bars of soap, among other items. I handed out balloons and stickers. It was a tiring day. The prayers were coming in quickly. One lady mentioned that she was starving and had no money to buy food . A Muslim man intervened and gave her $10 in local currency then they feel they are Muslim. She expressed that she did want to convert to Christianity, and we all prayed for her. A lady lost her husband and was holding a baby in her arms. "What will I do?" she said, and we all cried. The men looked so sad; they were trapped in this horrid place and were not happy. Many women were on their own, either left behind or husband deceased. One mother was trying to cool her baby down in the heat, which was 36 degrees Celsius. We could only look at them and think, how can we help? They cooked the food we brought for them to give to us and so we decided to go back the next day and give them food for them. prepared dipping paste in bowls, along with some bread and salad. However, I felt uncomfortable putting my hand into the food, so I asked if it was alright to use my chopsticks, and they said yes. The children are malnourished. A basin was placed on the mat at the gate, and all eight children sat around it, using their hands to eat after washing one hand to eat with. How could I teach them and not speak ?
The two ladies that came with me to buy flip flops and we bought them all good. While walking back to the van I was in front of them and a big truck pulled in between us and we were cut off. I did not see them again. Gone I was lost right away. I stayed where I was for a half an hour its so very hot and I decided to walk back to where we bought the shoes from. The man used his phone to tell them where I was.

Refugee camp letter
I just got back from Uganda, my first trip, with me were Dalia from Egypt, Sandra from New Zealand and the local team. The ministry was in a refugee settlement in Bweyale, Kriandingo camp. We gave about 30 food bags in Bweyale, and 20 bags in Kampala. We did spiritual service in a home the attendance was 30 people, not including children. and in the church the attendance was 70 people, not including children. The Lord made the work with us great, and we felt that we needed to come again because the need is great and numerous. That will be at the end of December and the beginning of January 2026, will have 3 days of spiritual revival in the evening, and training leaders in the morning, there will also be medical services, wound cleaning, because of the scarcity of water due to the lack of hygiene, many children have skin diseases and fungi. In addition to a special program for children, especially since Muslims have a strong influence on children and adults, we do home visits. Next time we want to distribute 500 bags of food supplies.
Need your prayers.

Exciting News
Last week the new lawyer said that he wanted to talk with the mayor of the district that is Mokono district. He met with the Mayor, telling him about A Kiwis house of Aroha home and training children centre. The Mayor was very excited to have us come and welcomed us to go to his district. He gave him a letter with a stamp to attach to the papers going into the government on Thursday. Also, with that, he wanted to know if he could contact the China government about my work in China. I thought it would not be a good idea, because I was there as I was called by God, not the government. I suggested sending a couple of Chinese newspaper cuttings from China to them. Thursday the lawyer added all these things to the application to get the final paper. And now it is all in God's hands, I've done all I can do.
My name is Tonny - I am 27 years and born in Uganda. I travelled the USA for 18 months in 2006-2008 with a choir - and have stayed in Uganda for life and working with Christian organisations for the last 10 years. By the Grace of God, I am gradually coming on board to help Jaja (Nai Nai Sandra) with her new establishment here in Uganda and I am happy to help in any way as the Lord leads. I have attached a photo of Jaja Sandra and myself at one of our meetings. God's Love.
Regarding Jude, the old Ugandan lawyer, he chose to take the money I entrusted to him for the NGO project, and that was the end of our agreement. During my time in New Zealand, he was ignoring my emails. This created significant stress for me, I would have to return to resolve the situation. Upon my return, I met a pastor from England who offered invaluable advice. His wisdom truly resonated with me, and I understood the importance of allowing him to lead the conversation.
I stayed silent, listening attentively and nodding to acknowledge his insights. On Thursday, February 20th, I had a crucial meeting scheduled with him at the country club, and I felt a mix of anticipation and anxiety given the previous events. The pastor reassured me that he was well-acquainted with the owner at the club. And would ensure that I received support during the meeting. He even arranged for two men to be in the coffee shop as a safety net for me, which helped alleviate my worries. The meeting ultimately went well, but it was heart-wrenching to see how lost he had become.

It reinforced the importance of addressing these issues head-on and seeking guidance As I reflect on the incredible depths of God's love, I am reminded of how his love inspires us each day. In a world that often feels chaotic and uncertain, God's unwavering love is our anchor and our light. In the book of Romans 8:38-39, we are assured that nothing can separate us from the love of God. This message fills my heart with hope and joy, reminding me that God's love is constant and ever-present, no matter our circumstances. As we navigate our journeys, we can find comfort in knowing that we are cherished beyond measure.
