Greetings everyone in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
This newsletter is for the month of April. It’s to let you know the news that’s happening right now for prayer.
Reflections from Uganda
At the B&B where I stayed, we had to cook, wash – it was more like renting a room with access to the kitchen and bathroom. Power cuts during storms, and lack of Wi-Fi, made it difficult to manage. Our phones ran out of battery, and I went searching for a place with a generator. I found one at Makindye Country Club, and after some discussion, they offered me a reduced rate. It was a restful and prayerful retreat, complete with a pool (though I’m still getting over my trust issues with pools after China!).
Sanyu Babies’ Home
I arrived at Sanyu on 31 March and will stay until 30 April. I’ll need to find and book accommodation for May – possibly in Jinja, Lake Victoria near the Source of the Nile, which is ideal for renewing my three-month visa.
The place is amazing, and I’m so thankful the Lord brought me here.
Barbara, a godly woman, welcomed me, explained the rules, and showed me my room – which has two single beds with nets. First day was half a day but I found my best place to help.
I decided it’s best for me to do the Sam–9am shift and then rest and come back at 3 p.m to feed the babies and leave at 6pm. This rhythm helps me manage the heat of the day and gives me time for handwashing clothes and newsletter tasks.
I help with laundry – washing by hand, rinsing, then into the machine before hanging them on bushes and fences. They didn’t take long to get dry. Then take it in for folding. It’s a lot of clothes, and the pile was up to my waist on the floor. Folding and sorting them in small med and large stacks towels they all have their own towel and sheets all done I rested.
Oh, the babies are so lovely. What I miss here is no one hugs. But the babies all hung off me, one picked up my hair like a hairdresser, it was a movement of the Holy Spirit and I knew I was being ministered to, their little hand touching you on the shoulder… oh so gentle the Spirit lets you know it’s Gods arranging all this it was heavenly. It reminded me of the song “to get a touch from the Lord is so real”.
A massive thank you to OX_TLC International School in Dongguan, China, for the generous gift of sweatshirts and hoodies for A Kiwi’s House of Aroha fundraising event. We deeply appreciate the students’ support and your ongoing partnership. Thank you for standing with us in Uganda as God continues to birth His work. Special thanks to Chris and Melissa, and the board.
02 - SANDRA KING APRIL 2025
Fundraising big time
Bethany Gardens are doing a fundraiser for Sandra King!
Sandra spent 30 years in China, opened three orphanages and rescued 670 babies that have been adopted out all over the world.
She is currently on mission in Uganda and we want to support her. So we are opening up our nursery for tours along with cake stalls, sausage sizzle and a second-hand stall. We will also have a stall selling her books about her missions in China.
Please come along to support an amazing woman who is blessing the lives of so many. There will be 3 tours, one at 10.30am, 11.30am and 12.30pm. Each tour will end with a flower demonstration. Arrangements made will also be auctioned off at the end of each tour.
Tour will be $10 per person (kids under 12 free)
Maximum 40 per tour so bookings are essential!

This Easter message to you is bits from the God-calling book.
Loosen your hold on earth, it cares, it worries even its joys. Unclasp your hands, relax, and then the tide of Easter joy will come.
Put aside all thoughts of the future, of the past. Relinquish all to get the Easter blessing. So often man, crying out for some blessing, has yet such a tight hold on some earthly treasure that he has no hand to receive mine, as I hold it out in love.
From the death of my body on the cross, is from the shedding of Husks in seed life, springs that new life which is my gift to every man who will accept it. Die with me to self to the human life, then you will know the rapturous joy of Easter resurrection. A risen life so glad and free can be yours.
Man speaks to you too of a buried Christ, search until you meet Me face to face and my tender utterings of your name awakens your glad Rabboni.
God Bless you all, as we all wait excitedly to celebrate the risen Lord. With Easter coming up.
John 3 v16, For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Argentina
Milla lives near the national parks in Argentina, where devastating wildfires have destroyed around 30 to 40 homes. Over the past few months, we’ve faced many delays getting newsletter drafts due to time differences and communication challenges.
Milla explained that the fires had melted the plastic coverings on underground wires, which affected internet connectivity. At times, she had to travel long distances just to access the internet.
This latest newsletter has been the hardest yet to prepare, with many obstacles in our way. At one point, I was about to send just the plain Word document, as I was in urgent need of prayer and couldn’t wait any longer. But praise God, it all came through in the end.
I want to say how important it is to get these newsletters out for prayer above anything else. A huge thank you to Milla for all she did during this time of crisis – what a blessing she is. Her steadfast love, support, and prayers over the past year and a half have made a tremendous difference. God bless you, Milla.

In Loving Memory – Glenise Weir
My dear friend and sister in Christ, Glenise Weir, has gone to glory. My heartfelt condolences go to her beloved husband Alan, their family, and grandchildren.
I received an email from Ave, her daughter (using her mum’s email), to let me know Glenise had passed away. I was so shocked I slammed my laptop shut – I didn’t want to believe it.
Glenise, aged 91, had gotten up and fallen, hitting her head. Alan had a headache, and when he woke up and saw she wasn’t in bed, he found her and called for help. She later passed away in hospital.
Glenise was my dear friend and sister in the Lord for over 40 years. When on sabbatical I stayed with them. I remember our goodbyes in their driveway, always with the look in our eyes that said, “I don’t know when I’ll see you again.” When I went back to China, she remained my faithful prayer warrior in New Zealand. I have peace that I’ll see her again.
It was a tough week. I didn’t go to work that first day. The grief would hit unexpectedly over the next few days, but I praise God for this beautiful woman of faith and her love for our Saviour.
Philippians 3:10–11 (NIV):
“I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead.”
Prayers and praises
Prayer needs
-
Pray for Pastor Francis and his team, as he does outreach to the Northern people before Easter pray that the people who are ministering to the men up there will be holy men and keep the others away if God doesn’t want them there.
-
Pray for the government that they stamp the NGO paper as soon as the Lord wills it, I got it will be fast from the Lord, so we wait but while waiting make it count as unto the Lord and keep the attitude in check.
-
Sandra’s three months are soon up and will need to get another visa.
-
Where to stay for the month of May either here or in Jinja near the Nile. Because Jinja is best for getting the visa at a smaller office.
-
48 mosquitoes’ bites over my arms and legs, so far tea tree oil is working.
-
Prayers for the fundraiser at Bethany Gardens in Maungatapere New Zealand in May for Sandra in Uganda. May the Lord bless this time and work that they are putting into this that God will be glorified.
Praises
-
The babies I lifted up to the Lord, I entrusted them all into His hands — they belong to Him, and He knows they will be healed. Also, the staff are being healed without their knowing, because God is doing it.
-
Barbara is running a great ship, and we need to praise God for her faithfulness.
FARMING GOD’S WAY JINJA REGIONAL TRAINING 2025
I’m praying about doing this training in Jinja. I find it very interesting, and it will also help me extend my visa. I’ll try to apply and see if there’s accommodation available.
