Family, friends, and supporters – greetings in the name of Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 1:2- Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Well, what an amazing month it has been. So much has happened and it’s all been God’s leading.

On the 1st of June, I went to church and three new people were there. Each one stood up and introduced themselves in Chinese. They were from mainland China and didn’t speak any English. I had already arranged with the pastor to show the two certificates we had received for our company. So during the notices, I was called to the front and began speaking in Chinese. Then Mary, the Chinese translator, stepped in and took over, so I continued in English. I shared that we had received the licences and the permit to start work – and that we are rejoicing, because God has done it, and it’s finished! Now, all that remains is my work visa, which should be processed soon.

After church, we all sat down for lunch. As soon as I found a seat, the two men and the woman from China sat at our table. They were so excited that I could speak Chinese. Then they heard from the others at the table that I had spent 30 years in China. The fact that I could speak their language opened a huge door. They knew we were family, and we continued chatting in Chinese. It was just beautiful.

These three lovely Chinese people told me that they had come to spy out the land, just like Joshua did. I told them that I had done the same thing last year! They said someone had told them, up on the main road, that there was a Chinese church nearby and that’s how they ended up coming along. I said that it’s because I needed help, and they agreed.

Mary also offered to complete the Chinese translation of my books, which is absolutely wonderful.

Only about five minutes into the conversation, after I had mentioned the injury to my ankle, one of the Chinese men pulled a jar of ointment out of his bag. He knelt down at my feet and began applying the ointment from my knee to my ankle and around my foot. At that moment, I remembered the verse in Isaiah where it says that young men will kneel at your feet. I began praising God – His Word was being fulfilled right there in front of me. Here was this man, who I didn’t even know, kneeling down and doing this. He said, “We must look after you, Nai Nai. We’ve got to look after you.” I was nearly in tears. He even took photos of my leg and said he would ask a doctor and pray.

As we were talking, I was reminded of the Lord’s promises:

Isaiah 60:4 - Lift up your eyes and look about you: All assemble and come to you; your sons come from afar, and your daughters are carried on the hip.

Isaiah 43:5 - Do not be afraid, for I am with you; I will bring your children from the east and gather you from the west.

Isaiah 60:14 - The descendants of your tormentors will come and bow before you. Those who despised you will kiss your feet. They will call you the city of the LORD, and Zion of the Holy One of Israel.

These verses reminded me of my time in China and all that happened there. The Lord told me back then, “One day, young men will sit at your feet.” Now, as the Holy Spirit revealed, I realised that many of the men who once tormented me — some who even tried to kill me — had lied about me and falsely accused me. And yet, in this new season, a young Chinese man knelt at my feet and gently applied ointment to my leg, saying, “Nai Nai, we have to look after you.”

Later on, as I talked with the Lord about it, the Holy Spirit brought those verses back to my heart. Yes, I was truly blessed. Isn’t it amazing that after all this time - after so many years - the very words the Lord gave me have now come to pass?

Isaiah 60:14 is a prophecy about future restoration and exaltation of God’s people; it speaks of their enemies coming to them in humility and recognising their divine status.

After church, Mary was telling some of the sisters that I had been alone in a hotel room for a whole month with a swollen leg and no one to help me. They showed me a flat that I might like to rent, and said I’d be able to get someone to help me with housekeeping, as there was space for an extra person to stay. If a local could do the food shopping on my behalf, they’d be able to buy things at much better prices than I could, being a foreigner. They could also help with the washing (since all the clothes need to be hand-washed), bring in the food, and keep the apartment clean. I liked the apartment straight away, and I prayed and asked the Lord about it. After doing the sums, I realised it would cost the same as staying in a caravan at the motor camp. It was really a no-brainer — I knew the Lord was leading me to move in.

Monday and Tuesday were quiet days for me — I spent them in prayer and didn’t do much else.

The 4th of June was a truly special day. It was my birthday, and I received six text messages in the morning. All my kids rang me for a chat. Helle and Rene, Gail and Gene, Cilia and Ian — and even some people from New Zealand I didn’t personally know — all came together for afternoon tea and called me on a video call. They had even bought a birthday cake with my name on it and sang Happy Birthday to me! It was also Helle and Rene’s wedding anniversary: Happy wedding anniversary Helle and Rene.

Cindy, who’s in England, told me to go buy a pillow and hug it whenever I needed a hug — I thought that was such a sweet idea. Cindy, Joy’s daughter, also sent me some money and told me to buy a cake and some flowers to celebrate.

Later, at 11:00am, I had a meeting with Pastor Francis, my lawyer, and John the driver. It lasted about an hour and a half. We signed another paper for the company and spent some time discussing everything.

At 1:00pm, John and I had lunch together to celebrate receiving the two certificates. We’d done something similar last year when we got the first one - that time it was at KFC, but this year we went to a Java coffee house. I was so happy, and the lunch was absolutely lovely. The staff even sang “Happy Birthday” to me accompanied by the beat of their drums! The lunch lasted about an hour and a half.

At around 4pm, Miriam — my dear friend and personal assistant — picked me up and took me to a beautiful Japanese restaurant. On the way there, she told me that her brother owned and managed the restaurant. From the moment we arrived, I was blown away; the architecture, the atmosphere, and the warmth were just incredible. As we walked in, everyone greeted us like we had stepped into Japan! After we were seated, her brother came and introduced himself. He said, “I’m going to send all three chefs to meet you. They’ll each explain their specialties, and you can order whatever you like - they’ll prepare it especially for you.”

That’s exactly what happened - and I felt like royalty! It was so beautiful.

The first chef came to the table and recommended we start with some small nibbles. Then the sushi chef arrived to explain all the options available. The chefs just kept coming — asking what I would like for the main. I chose salmon, and Miriam had beef ribeye. We both had non-alcoholic mocktails, which were very nice —although we had such a laugh when they arrived because they looked quite “dangerous” being bright purple! We laughed and laughed all through dinner.

Miriam and Tony said “Happy Birthday Mummy”

After the main course, we were so full. One by one, all the chefs returned to ask how everything was. I told them honestly, “It was truly amazing.”

Tony, the manager (and Miriam’s brother), sat with us for a while too. We really enjoyed not just the meal, but the whole experience. Even though Tony has only been running the restaurant for six months, it already feels so well established - like it’s been there for years. He told me, “All I hope is that people leave better than they came.”

The restaurant is called Hiro Restaurant, which means “bringing people together.” I really want to give him a shout-out in this newsletter - because honestly, I’ve never experienced anything like it. It was proper fine dining, and I was only worried about not spilling anything down the front of my top (which I managed, thank goodness!).

Then I was told that my dinner was on the house and that Tony had decided to cover the cost. I have never been treated like that before; it truly felt like being an honoured guest. I can’t explain the peace and serenity I felt. I was so blessed. I honestly thought this birthday would be just another day - I wasn’t expecting anything. Just a week earlier, things had been quite tough.

The wonderful evening ended with us waiting about half an hour for the driver. While we were waiting, the three chefs came out with a slice of cake, a candle on top, and “Happy Birthday Mummy” written on the plate. They stood there and sang Happy Birthday to me - it was just so special. What a night! It was amazing. Thank the Lord — He is so good.

On Wednesday, I had a meeting with my lawyer to make a payment. He told me that the resolution - which officially appoints the directors and myself - would take one to two months to be finalised, because the government is usually quite slow with these things.

I said, “I don’t agree with that. I believe it’s going to happen quickly, and it’s going to happen suddenly.” And that was the end of that conversation.

Exactly one week later, just last Wednesday at 9:45am, I received an email in the Kiwis House of Aroha LTD inbox. It said that the resolution had been passed by the government and I had officially been appointed CEO of the company. Everything was confirmed and all within one week!

Isn’t it incredible how God moved? We were all so excited, knowing that it was truly for His glory. After I moved into my new apartment, I started to feel stressed. There was nothing in it; no cutlery, crockery, appliances, or furniture. I found myself worrying about things like knives and forks. But then I sensed a stillness in my spirit.

I asked the Lord, “What is this stillness? What do You want to say to me?”

And the Lord gently asked me, “What is the big plan?”

I responded, “Oh! You’re right, Lord. Why am I getting caught up in the little things?”

Right then, I turned my focus back to the vision — to build something amazing for Him. The Lord knows my heart’s desire is to have a base to work from.

Suddenly, I had the impression to search on my phone for a place called Mukono. I looked it up and found that Mukono means “arm” — I immediately knew it was the arm of God. Mukono is a district here in Uganda. The Lord had already said in His Word:

“Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” I said, “Okay, Lord — I’m back on track again.”

As I looked deeper into Mukono, I came across an architectural firm called Dream Architects, and this is my dream and they were God-fearing. The very next day, I decided to call them and make an appointment. They booked me in that same day.

Wednesday at 2pm. Everything happened so quickly Miriam, who is helping me with all of this, was working that day. But I knew I had to go ahead because whether we are available or not, God is always at work!

I gave the architects the plan. I had already shared the name of my company with them and shown proof of our registration, so we were ready to begin. I needed to know how much land would be required for the project.

After some discussion and reviewing the plan, they made several helpful suggestions: a carpark beside the main building, but we cut it back to a smaller size. There would also be separate men’s and women’s accommodation in addition to the main facility. We are waiting for their final summery.

The Storm
Sunday going to church it turned out to be a full day as the storm broke while we were in church and our church has no walls and so the rain came in and the wind blew. We spent some time waiting for it to stop. when it rains here no one does anything but wait sometimes hours. mostly about three hours the volume of rain is a huge down pour.

Blessings
I’m incredibly blessed that my adviser, Brychan, who used to live here in Uganda but has since moved back to China and is still supporting me from afar. He gave me a wonderful contact who helped me get a fridge, washing machine, and oven all at a great price. I was so thrilled and thankful.

I then asked Brychan about my laptop and my New Zealand cell phone, as I was having trouble accessing online banking and a few other essentials. He directed me to Ken, who works at the school.

When I took my laptop to show Ken, it only took him 10 minutes to sort everything out. And just like that, it was done! I thanked him and left. What a relief it was to have that sorted and all me access restored.

A few days later, Ken asked if he could come and see the room I’m turning into an office. He came with a lady named Rita, and they both had a look at the space to see what we’d need to set it up properly. Ken went ahead and ordered a desk in the right size, and a good-quality printer for the office. Then I showed him the books I had written in English. He told me there’s a Christian man here, part of an NGO, who does print, and that I should get some copies printed locally because it’s more affordable and would make the books accessible to others. I had only brought two sets with me, so I thought that was a great idea.

I rang and made an appointment to speak with the printer the next day. For now, he is only printing the books in English, and he does it for the Lord.

As my little blue book says: To see all of this with the eyes of faith is to cause it to manifest in the material.

Praises

  • HOT OFF THE PRESS!!!
The Chinese church has passed my name onto their lawyer who does their visas and the Interpol as I am a missionary in their church, and they have adopted me. She has agreed to take care of these matters for me and has already booked the appointments for Interpol. This has taken a huge load off my shoulders. How wonderful! The Lord knows what I need before I even ask.

  • Medical update – I’ve been cleared by the hospital! The blood thinners are working, and I’ll be coming off them soon.

  • New apartment – After four months living in just a small room with an attached bathroom, I’ve now moved into a lovely two-room flat. It’s such a blessing to have space to walk around and a perfect base to work from.

Testimonies

We started off last year with testimonies and I think it’s a great way to encourage one another, so if anyone has a testimony they would like to share about this ministry and the babies or the work how has God touched you, we would love to hear from you if you drop us a line and share a few words about what God has done for you.

We Need Prayer

  • Office help – Please pray for the right people to come and help me set up a functional office in my spare room.

Recommendations

Remmings Hotel Kampala comes highly recommended.
It is clean, lovely staff are very polite and only NZD $29 per night and is in the heart of the city. It would be suitable for outreach teams or just to stay and get a feel for village way of life.
