Family, friends, and supporters – greetings in the name of Jesus Christ.

Psalm 118:24 - This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.

My Health and The Bible House

I had a D-Dimer blood test taken six weeks ago because the number of clots in the body was in the 2810 range, and it should have been under 500. So, after taking the blood thinners for six weeks, I went back to get another check on the 7th July. The results were a great improvement and came in at 560. The doctor said that he would like it to be in the 200 range and I need to go on more pills until it goes down. Yes, I am now down from two pills a day to just one pill a day for the next six weeks. I will have another check in three weeks’ time and I’m trusting it will be around the 200 mark and I should be good to go.

While I was waiting for blood tests to be taken at the Grace Laboratories in the Bible House, the lawyer rang me with documents that needed to be signed and managed to meet me there. Another lawyer then sent the other papers with a man on a Boda Boda that I needed to sign. It was really good to have a place that people could come and meet with me, rather than me needing to travel in the traffic. The Boda Boda is a motor bike transport that was sent to me with the hard copies of the police report and Interpol certificate.

In the Bible House, I was told a story about this amazing man, Mr. Simon Peter Mahama, who was the head of the bible society for over ten years. He is accredited for launching the braille bible for the blind, translating the bible into Spanish and many other things. He was attributed for doing much for the Lord and it was an amazing story. I read more about him when I got home and was touched by his life.

“He spearheaded the Bible House in Kampala. He did the construction of it. He tragically passed away on May the 12th 2023. He was born Dec 6th 1969.

Mr. Simon Peter MUKHAMA was the former general secretary and chief executive officer of the Bible Society of Uganda. The Bible House is on Bombo Road in Kampala, and this was a project he was actively involved in. His death occurred shortly before the completion and opening.” According to the Bible Society of Uganda. Yes, it is like that. We all start something and spearhead it and when someone else takes over we are released from the assignment. As the Lord says, “I know the plans I have for you.” It’s upon completion of the work we rest. God’s rest dear Brother; ‘till we meet again.

Other Good news

I now have the recommendation and notification of the acceptance letter from the government for the working visa. It has been okayed by them and so it is not far away now. Thank you for your prayers.

A Funny Story

I’ve been in my flat here for a good month, with no curtains up at all. And so, I was feeling a little bit on show and I needed my privacy. I just felt that I should get some curtains because I’m on the ground floor. I told Mary, that while sitting in my lounge, I felt that someone was looking at me. So, I went up to the window squinting up against the glass to see who, if anyone, was out there. That was when I saw two white circles that then moved. It was two white eyes of a person! I couldn’t see anything as it was all black…except for two white eyes staring at me. I got such a fright that I jumped backwards and then after a moment, I managed straightened myself up. I then realized that they caught me looking at them too. I went to my room in the dark and laughed and laughed at me peering at the window and the whole situation. I guess I will never know who it was. So, I’m very happy I have now got the curtains up and its feeling good. Thank the Lord.

The life of a missionary is quite different to the life that most live. After taking the measurements of all the windows, nothing is wasted, and we make everything we have go a long way. I asked, Mary, my new Chinese friend from next door, if she would like to come with me to buy curtains. I also knew full well that she would be a fierce lady for bargaining with. She came with me to get the couch last week and that was another story. She got it for 90 thousand UGX down from 1.5 million UGX. She was awesome!

So here we are in China Town in Kampala. She knew the place and exactly where to go. We headed to the curtains whilst we talked Chinese to each other. As we were looking through the fabrics, as fast as she says, “No that’s not nice.” I would say, “I like it plain.” “Oh no,” she said, “It’s nice! You wear bright colors.” I said, “That’s different because outside is bright. Busy patterns for sleeping are not for me.” And so, we continued with our friendly but animated banter with each other. The shop assistants were laughing and smiling at us as Mary was telling me what to buy, and I’m saying to her, “No, are you my mother?” and things like that. I was just laughing because I was trying to keep up with her and at the same time, I’m translating for her and the shop assistants then translating what the shop assistants were saying back to Mary. It was wonderful and hysterical chaos! The sales staff said afterwards that they have never had so much fun.

After we got home, we got all the curtains up. It started by hanging the one piece of fabric up then cutting it to the correct length for that window. We then used the rest of the fabric to cover the other windows, and ended up getting four curtains out of one.

So sometimes things have been very hard, but other times were filled with laughter. Even now I can’t stop laughing whenever I think of these things. Thank God for laughter; laughter is the best medicine.

A Purchase to Pass On

I also bought a treadle sewing machine and its great except I can’t thread the needle. I found some fuse wire to help me thread it. I have oiled it and pumped the treadle to get it loose to use. I have a lady outside of the gate and asked her if she wants to use it. I will see if she takes it on and that way, if she serious about learning, I will give it to her. It will be a source of income for her.

Updates On My books

The printers asked if I could get some of my books printed here as many have asked for them already. I got a quote but again I have not been into a book store to see what the usual prices are in comparison to mine. I know that they will have to be cheaper to get the people to buy them.

A New Friend

I heard there was a lady from Whangarei, New Zealand, in Kampala. I did eventually get her phone number. Her name is Andrea and she is a school teacher working for an NGO. We had made arrangements to meet and had a lovely dinner together. It was so very good to see a kiwi person and talk the talk. It feels very good. I just had to give her a huge hug, and I did hold on for a bit longer. She is a blessing and an answer to prayer because I wanted somebody from New Zealand to be here that I could just talk Kiwi, and just be around my own people. It was nice that we ring and check on each other from time to time.

We both enjoyed a whole fish each for dinner.

Farewell to Mike King
My family back in New Zealand scattered the ashes of my late husband, Mike King, at Uritite beach in New Zealand, on the Sunday June 22nd. My adult children and families were there to remember and honour his life.

Newsletter and Website Updates

The news letters have become a lot easier now for me not having to deal with the drafts and sorting out the fonts etc. It’s really good. We have Candice in New Zealand on board now helping Mila in Argentina. Candice, Mila and Edwin are all working together and it’s great that things are getting done as we are becoming more united in our work. There have also been some people not getting the newsletter and also said that the web site was down and could not get it that way either. I am so sorry about that. The website is up and running and we are looking into individual emails to see if they are correct or not.

Testimonies

Two weeks ago, I took a taxi to the shops. I was only in the taxi for 5 mins when the taxi driver said to me, “I want to know your God”. I said, “Okay, stop the car.” He did say sorry for all his sins and what he had said and done to others and he said, “I want Grandma’s God in my life”. So, he asked Jesus to come into his heart, he cried and said he will never be the same.

The second time this happened, a driver was picking me up from the mall and again it only took a few minutes because I’m always telling people what God just did today and yesterday. He said, “Wow! I have never heard this before?”. I replied, “It’s the truth.” He said, “Yes, it is.” People are hungry for the truth The third was an Uber picking me up from the house and taking me to the hospital- same thing again. God is on the move and it is always very exciting telling all what God is doing.

Psalms 105:1 - go to the nations and tell of all He has done.
Psalms 105:15 - do not touch my anointed ones; do my prophets no harm.
Of course, we are shaking up the place a bit.

Another time, I went to buy milk powder that was not in a tin because it is too expensive. I bought the loose milk powder and I used it a few days, but then I put my hand in when I saw something shiny. It was a razor blade loose in my milk powder. I took it back to the shop and told them about it. I chose to do it with God’s grace and I chose to show mercy. I believe this all happened because there is always a backlash from the enemy to try and stop us from doing the Lord’s work. I had just been telling the drivers in the taxis about the Lord and the backlash came. A day later, that Thursday night, I came home late and needed some food. At 7.30pm I went to the fridge and got some potatoes and a small sausage out to fry up. After it was fried and I dished it up, I started to eat it. There was a huge bone in the meal and it got stuck across my throat and I started choking. Three hours later I was still feeling it in my throat. It was a terrible experience, and it also caused a sore throat for a few days. Satan was trying to take my life to stop me from what I am doing. Your prayers really matter and have a great impact on these situations so please don’t stop praying.

Testimony: Evelin, Missionary from Mexico in Argentina.

Reading these books was such a blessing to me. As a missionary, I truly believe God had it planned that I would read them at this exact moment, so I could be filled even more with Him through the life of missionary Sandra King.

From the very first book, I was deeply moved by how clearly God had planned for Sandra to serve Him in China. It really impacted me how precisely God gave her instructions — where to go, what to do, what to decide — but above all, how to bless those children. Seeing the true value of serving God in a foreign land with such different customs, food, and language — and still being obedient and going where God called — I know many would see that as an obstacle. But when you love God and say, “Here I am, send me,” all those challenges actually help you grow and become useful in God’s Kingdom.

One thing that deeply touched me was how God stretched her faith. When He spoke to her about what He would do through her hands — and the hands He would bring to support her — she could have doubted, but she chose to believe Him, without focusing on the numbers, trusting that He would back her up.

It fills me with faith to see again and again how God provided — not just with resources, but also protecting her life. So many times, people tried to kill her, and yet God always looked after her.

That gives me courage to keep running the race and to face every giant that stands in the way, knowing God has already prepared the land for us to take.

Each revelation God gave her to minister to those children shows me how clearly He reveals things to His children — things no one else could possibly know.

Another part that blessed me so much was the compassion she had — not only for each child, but also for the people working in the homes, like those who cooked or helped in other areas. God’s purpose wasn’t just for the children — it extended to every person who came through those homes. Where God’s presence is, no one simply passes by. He always plans divine encounters. I was really impacted by how even those who tried to hinder the work were confronted by God and ended up witnessing His power. I could clearly see how prayer has been such a key part of Sandra’s life — something we are all called to. In every situation she faced, God had either warned her ahead of time or was right there, protecting and guiding her. Every time she stopped to ask, “What should I do? Where should I go? Who should I talk to? Which child is coming?” — God was faithful to answer. That deeply blesses me and challenges me not to stop believing and to obey wherever God sends me. Seeing her faith and trust in the One who sent her confirms to me over and over that serving God is a privilege. We are truly blessed to be chosen to serve in His Kingdom.

Another part I loved was how God looked after her in such personal ways — using others to bless her with small details that only she and the Father would understand. It reminds me that His thoughts are always higher than ours, and His faithful love is always there for us.

Personally, I felt challenged. God spoke to me deeply about dying to myself more each day and learning to love what He loves. To never give up. To believe only in Him. To go where He says, knowing He will never let His children be put to shame. Instead, we walk securely with our Father by our side. Whatever assignment He gives us will always be filled with His presence, leading us to become more like Him — growing in faith, seeking Him more in prayer, and learning what He wants for each place. I won’t let anyone put out His dreams or purposes. These books are full of treasures, but only for those willing to open the chest and search. They will be blessed and filled with all that God is — becoming His hands, feet, and eyes here on earth. Reading these books brought me great joy and faith. I’m sure there are still so many more things missionary Sandra King has lived — eternal experiences. I bless her life and truly believe she is a giant in God’s Kingdom. Her obedience and love for God and for each child didn’t just change one life — it changed generations! I bless and honour her life!

We Need Prayer

  • Please pray for my new lawyer, Eliab, who is a special man with a call on his life.

  • Pray for God’s timing, not ours, for the orphanage.

  • Pray for Kenneth, who owns the land for the orphanage, for God’s blessings upon them.

  • Pray every time you have my name coming into your mind. It's the Lord telling you that I need prayers.

  • Please pray against backlashes as every time there is good news, the next thing there is another problem.

  • Pray that the roller coaster of emotions as we travel this way with the Lord, would become smooth.

Praises

  • For the connections through Kenneth and setting up the orphanage.

  • Thank God the orphanage is being prepared.

  • Thank God the clots in my leg are gone.

A Special Thanks

I just want to say a massive thanks to Helle and Rene for all their love and support while I have been in Uganda. They have taken care of all matters for me in New Zealand so that I have been free to concentrate on the work the Lord has for me. They were also responsible for organizing the wonderful fundraiser at Bethany Gardens. Hella and Rene you are treasured friends and I appreciate you.

Recommendations

In this newsletter we would like to tell you about Varna American International School. I have spent time with a teacher who comes from Bosnia and is spending some time in Uganda. All the children in the school are from China, and they are taught everything in school including the things that they would normally be taught at home. This a wonderful thing they do for the parents who are required to work full time.

This school provides high quality American international high school education and has strong Christian values with sound biblical doctrine.
